Title:
Foreign Influence, Research Security and International Collaboration:  A Panel Led Discussion
Description:
Join us for a panel led discussion on a variety of topics related to federal concerns, policy changes, and institutional responses related to foreign influence in research. Federal agencies and research institutions share common goals of securing the interests and results of research, including avoiding theft of intellectual property and understanding and managing the influence of foreign entities. As we work towards goals for research security and transparency concerning research support, the affiliations of researchers have been elevated as a critical need for both agencies and institutions. Agency requirements for reporting research support, foreign components, and researcher affiliations have been evolving at a fast pace which is presenting unprecedented challenges to resource constrained institutions who need to adapt systems and policies to collect and report existing and new information. The panel will discuss topics raised in advance of and during the session including agency requirements, institutional policy and procedure changes, current and long term plan for institutional guidance, vehicles for outreach to researchers to explain changes, and managing the flow of information across institutional roles and offices.
Panel:
Mary H. Mitchell, Chief Research Compliance Officer, Mass General Brigham
Andi Hernandez, Vice President, Research Operations, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Keri Godin, MS, Senior Director, Office of Research Integrity, Brown University
Moderator:
Jill Mortali, Director, Office of Sponsored Projects, Dartmouth College
