Outstanding Volunteer Award

This award recognizes a research administrator who has made a significant contribution volunteering their time to Region 1 NCURA, typically through service on any Region 1 committee or through supporting the ongoing training and development opportunities provided by Region 1.

Purpose and Criteria
The Outstanding Volunteer Award will be presented to an individual in recognition of their significant contributions to Region 1 NCURA as a volunteer.

The Awards Committee will consider candidates who performed their volunteer duties above and beyond that ordinarily expected for instance: regional or national officer, committee member, web content manager, spring meeting service, (including Registration Table Coordinator, Hospitality Coordinator, Dinner Group Coordinator), and other volunteer efforts within Region 1 and have made significant contributions such as the following:

  • Unusual or creative one-time contribution to Region 1 in furtherance of its goals;

  • Ongoing commitment to Region 1, through years of continued volunteer efforts;

  • Made suggestions or contributions in ways which helped improve Region 1 (committees, volunteering, bylaw changes, software/programming to aid research administration, etc.);

  • Have displayed willingness to offer their abilities, time, and enthusiasm to Region 1;

  • Provided service as a volunteer in several capacities within the region; or

  • Excelled as a volunteer in one particular area or committee.


Eligibility
Candidates must be a current member of NCURA Region 1 and current elected officers are excluded from the ability to receive this award.  Committee chairs and elected officials are strongly encouraged to consider the service of their committee members and nominate them when appropriate.

Nomination Criteria
Nominations must include:

  • A completed nomination form, which includes some basic demographic information, as well as the names of two (2) current Region 1 members, including one (1) who is external to the nominee’s institution who will support the nomination.

  • Nominators should be prepared to upload a single (co-signed) or two (separately attached) letter(s) of recommendation.

  • Nominations must also include a current curriculum vitae (CV) or other document outlining volunteer contributions of the individual related to NCURA.  This document may either be uploaded or a link to a professional profile provided (i.e., personal website, NCURA profile or LinkedIn page).    

Additional information:

  • Self-nominations are encouraged.

  • The form should take about 10 minutes to complete, but the letters of recommendation may take longer. 

    Awards are based on criteria listed above, and will be determined by the Awards Committee.

    The Outstanding Volunteer Award will be presented at the Annual Spring Meeting.
